These concentrated dyes are designed for tinting musical instruments. They offer high transparency, excellent color uniformity, quick drying, and strong resistance to fading. You can mix these dyes to create custom shades for your specific needs.

250ml bottle.

These concentrated dyes offer dual functionality. You can dilute them with solvent to apply directly to wood with a spray gun, or use them to color your finishing varnish. These universal dyes can be diluted in solvent, water, or alcohol, depending on your preference. For squeegee applications, water or Nitorlack Retard solvent is recommended.

Dilution Guide:

  • Dilution Proportions: Between 3% and 10%, depending on the application method.

How-To-Use

Preparation:

  • Decide on your desired stain design and color. Before applying to the guitar, test the stain on a sample of wood that closely resembles your guitar's wood.
  • To apply the stain, use a small sponge or cloth. Test on a sample piece to check the color's intensity and how many coats are needed to achieve your desired look. You can dilute with water for a softer tone with more coats.

Application:

  • Sanding: Start by sanding the guitar with P240 sandpaper until smooth. Dampen the surface with water, let it dry, then lightly sand with P400 to remove any residue.
  • Masking: Use masking tape to cover areas you don't want to stain.
  • Staining: Shake the can well before applying. Put 4-5 drops of stain on a small sponge piece and apply to the guitar in long, even strokes. Work in sections, starting from the lower side and moving upward, applying from the center outward.
  • For greater color intensity, apply another coat, lightly sanding with P400 beforehand.
  • For a double stain, let the first coat dry for at least 30 minutes, then sand until the stain remains in the most open grains or until you achieve the desired effect. Apply the second coat.
  • For a two-tone or burst effect, apply the lighter color first. For a dual-tone, the darker color usually comes first.

Finishing:

After staining, you can use various finishes like nitrocellulose, polyurethane, or waterborne - each method offers unique results.

Typically, you'd start with a primer followed by lacquer, but if the wood is not very porous (like maple), you can apply the finish directly.

Following these tips and techniques will help you achieve a smooth and professional stain on your guitar.
